Dr. Ronald Falcon currently holds the position of Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology at SUNY Downstate and is on staff at Long Beach Hospital and South Nassau Communities Hospital. I want to tell you about a patient that I had the opportunity to treat, a 78 year old woman who has had a history of multiple melanomas in the years past. On her November full skin visit, I noted a suspicious lesion on her nose that I was concerned was a malignant melanoma. Because the lesion was on the face, she did not want a biopsy. I explained the SIAscope to her and once we examined the lesion and saw the criteria that I told her in advance were suspicious of malignancy, she did allow me to biopsy the lesion.
