About us
Our mission at Astron Clinica is to revolutionise skin imaging and help dermatologists, general practitioners and plastic surgeons to diagnose, analyse, and monitor skin health. Our unique, patented skin-imaging technology, SIAscopy, and the software platform that brings it to your computer screen, DERMETRICS , do just that – by looking beneath the surface of the skin. Non-invasive, quick, and simple to use, DERMETRICS turns a digital camera and a laptop computer into a state-of-the-art skin-imaging system.
At Astron Clinica, we understand the difficulties and complexities of diagnosing and monitoring skin conditions. We know that dermatologists, general practitioners and plastic surgeons need the best and most detailed information they can get. We know that pharmaceuticals and other products for the skin must demonstrate their effectiveness if they are to be marketed successfully.
Working with expert clinicians and leading research scientists, we have developed DERMETRICS, the only skin-imaging solution that allows you to examine the key components of the skin – melanin, haemoglobin, dermal melanin and collagen – to a depth of up to 2mm below the surface. Using DERMETRICS to visualise the distribution of these components in the skin provides you not only with information critical for diagnosis, but also with the data to see, understand and manage factors that affect skin health and appearance.
DERMETRICS applications are based on Astron Clinica’s patented technology, SIAscopy, which has European Community and US FDA approval. Our products have a wide range of clinical and cosmetic uses, from examining conditions such as acne, psoriasis, and skin cancer, to wound management, plastic surgery, and the development of pharmaceutical and other products for the skin. Our flagship DERMETRICS application, MoleView, has already been clinically proven to help dermatologists diagnose malignant melanoma, the most dangerous form of skin cancer, more accurately.
Astron Clinica has headquarters in Cambridge, UK, and a wholly-owned subsidiary in Australia, with distributors across Canada, Europe, the Middle East, Australia and New Zealand.
