Martin Rothman

Chairman. Experienced medical devices entrepreneur

Martin is a consultant cardiologist at Barts and The London NHS Trust, and Professor of Interventional Cardiology, Queen Mary, University of London. He has founded and/or been Chief Executive of a number of medical based technology companies, including Datacam Ltd, incorporating medical software applications, and Intravascular Research Ltd, which successfully developed an invasive (class III) medical device for imaging within human coronary arteries.

 

 

 

Annie Brooking

• 

Annie Brooking is CEO of Astron Clinica. A computer scientist, Annie has been working in the high technology industry for over 30 years. During this time she has led academic research teams, engineering teams and teams of marketers, and has held senior management positions at Sun Microsystems Inc. in Mountain View, CA, and Symbolics Inc. in Boston. She has run a number of high technology companies, has 20 years of sales and marketing experience in Europe and the USA, and has published several books on both management and computing topics. Annie is a visiting professor at the Computing Department at Newcastle University.

 

 

 

Symon Cotton

• 

Symon is Scientific Director at Astron Clinica, and the inventor of SIAscopy. He completed his PhD at Birmingham University with a thesis entitled “A non-invasive imaging system for assisting in the diagnosis of malignant melanoma.” He then joined Cambridge Design Partnership to continue to develop this technology, which led to the formation of Astron Clinica Limited in November 1998, when it became apparent that the technology had a significant commercial future.

      

Martin Rigby

Martin Rigby joined the the Cambridge office of 3i in 1986 as a specialist investor in start-up and early stage technology businesses. In 1992 he founded ETCapital Limited. He has made investments in nearly forty technology businesses over the past 17 years. He sits on the boards of: Bango.net, Astron Clinica, Oi! Bagel and WAX info and is a non-executive director of the Cascade Seed Fund. He read history for his first degree at New College, Oxford, and was a regular army officer for seven years before completing an MBA at Cranfield University.

     

Abdulhakeem Alkhayyat

• 

Abdulhakeem Alkhayyat is the General Manager of Kuwait Finance House (KFH), Bahrain. He previously spent six years at Ernst & Young and five years at First Islamic Investment Bank (ARCAPITA), a private equity house. Abdulhakeem is currently Chairman of Durrat Khaleej Al Bahrain Company - the largest real estate development project in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He also chairs the New Zealand Australian Private Equity Fund (NZAPEF) and sits on the board of several subsidiaries and affiliates of KFH. Abdulhakeem holds a Bachelor degree in Finance and a second Bachelor degree in Middle Eastern Studies both from the University of Texas Austin, USA. In 1996 Abdulhakeem became a Certified Public Accountant in California, USA.

 

 

 

Paul Mercer

• 

Paul Mercer is a UK law qualified solicitor specialising in banking law. After reading law at Cambridge University, Paul attended Chester College of Law. Paul has worked for leading international law firms Clifford Chance, Norton Rose and Macfarlanes, and has spent the last seven years working in the Middle East advising on a variety of banking transactions. Paul is currently Kuwait Finance House (Bahrain)'s in-house legal counsel.

 

 

 

Sattam Algosaibi

Sattam Algosaibi is the Head of Corporate Finance at Kuwait Finance House (Bahrain) B.S.C.(c). He earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Saudi Arabia, and completed an MBA at DePaul University, Chicago. Sattam pursued a career in banking and worked for the Saudi British Bank, an HSBC subsidiary, and Albaraka Islamic Bank, a subsidiary of Dallah Albaraka Group (a Saudi-based conglomerate with more than $4 billion assets under management). Over the last nine years, Sattam has gained significant banking experience, particularly in Corporate Finance and Credit Portfolio Management.

     

Steve Terry

Steve has 26 years experience in medical device companies and is currently Chief Executive of Lombard Medical Technologies plc. He has held a number of senior executive positions, including Managing Director of the Cardiovascular Division and Executive Director of Biocompatibles International plc, where he grew the Division and sold the business to Abbott for $230 million. Prior to this, Steve was CEO of PrevNiTech Ltd, a company specialising in anti-microbial coatings for medical devices, and before that, VP Marketing Worldwide and New Business Development for Schneider Worldwide, a wholly owned subsidiary of Pfizer Corp. He played a key role in the sale of this business to Boston Scientific for $2.1 billion.
