Management Team
The senior management team at Astron Clinica combines clinical experience along with entrepreneurial talent, and includes:
Annie Brooking, CEO, 30 years experience in high tech industry
Annie is a computer scientist who has been working in the high technology industry for over 30 years. During this time she has led academic research teams, engineering teams and teams of marketers, and has held senior management positions at Sun Microsystems Inc. in Mountain View CA and Symbolics Inc. in Boston. She has run a number of high technology companies, has 20 years' sales and marketing experience in Europe and the USA and has published several books on both management and computing topics. Annie is a visiting professor at the Computing Department at Newcastle University.
Symon Cotton, Scientific Director, Inventor of SIAscopy
Symon completed his PhD at Birmingham University with a thesis entitled, "A non-invasive imaging system for assisting in the diagnosis of malignant melanoma". He then joined Cambridge Design Partnership to continue to develop this technology, which led to the formation of Astron Clinica Limited in November 1998 when it became apparent that the technology had a significant commercial future.
Martin Greasley, Chief Financial Officer
Martin joined Astron Clinica in 2009 bringing with him a wealth of senior financial and commercial management experience. He has held the posts of Finance Director, Chief Financial Officer and Vice President Operations in the United Kingdom and North America. Martin has extensive experience in the technology sector having managed both hardware and software enterprises during his time with the Tadpole Technology Group. He has been instrumental in the start-up, acquisition and disposal of business entities during his 25 year career in the technology, financial services, engineering and retail sectors. Martin is a qualified accountant and holds a Masters in Business Administration
Dermot Walsh, General Manager, Asia Pacific
Dermot has extensive sales and marketing experience within medical and pharmaceutical markets. His experience within the UK and Europe covers sales, marketing and general management with Blue Chip organisations such as Schering AG, BOC and CR Bard. Having previously run his own business for 5 years, Dermot joined Astron Clinica in 2003 and has been involved in the commercialisation of our products throughout Europe. He is now based in Brisbane as General Manager of the Asia Pacific region - including Australia. Dermot holds a B.Sc from Glasgow University and a Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
Thorbjorn Njalsson, Head of Software Development
Thorbjorn leads the software team at Astron Clinica. He has worked in software development since 1996, including as a key member of the team that created InfoSuite and as co-founder of Lux Inflecta Reykjavik. Thorbjorn developed GIZA, the first server-centric IDE running on the web, and has completed projects for a range of large enterprises, including Iceland Telecom, Nokia and StatOil. A native of Iceland, Thorbjorn has a degree in Computer Sciences from the University of Reykjavik.
David Rossitter, Customer & Operations Manager
David Rossitter joined Astron Clinica in 2008 to head up its Operations and Customer services function. David's responsibilities include management of hardware production, order fulfillment, regulatory compliance in each of the territories that Astron operates, management of the ISO13485 quality management system, customer services and a range of wider operational and commercial activities.
David has over 20 years experience in operations, commercial and customer services management in a range of emerging software technology companies. He has held Director/VP level positions with KPMG Management Consulting, iSoft which grew to be a major provider of information systems to the healthcare sector, and Geneva (telecommunications billing software) that succesfully exited to Convergys in 2001 for $700m.
David has a 1st Class Honours Degree (MA) in Natural Sciences and a PhD in astrophysics both from Cambridge University.
Charlotte Fionda, Head of Marketing
Charlotte heads up the marketing team at Astron Clinica. She started her career in marketing in 1998 and has had over 10 years worth of marketing experience largely with Blue Chip organizations including white goods manufacturer General Domestic Appliances and latterly Nokia Mobile Phones. Charlotte joined Astron Clinica in 2007 and has been responsible for building Astron Clinica’s products into distinct and recognized brands within the industry. She holds a B.Sc hons degree from Liverpool University and Chartered Institute of Marketing qualifications.
