BCC View

BCC View brings a new way to visualise and diagnose Basal Cell Carcinoma – saving time, money through fewer biopsies, and giving the patient the reassurance of receiving a diagnosis during consultation.

With over 60,000 new cases of non-melanoma skin cancer recorded last year in the UK alone, and predictions that this number will grow substantially year on year, the need to diagnose and treat rapidly is becoming increasingly important. Early identification of BCC also brings the possibility of treatment without excision, reducing the number of patients referred to dermatology clinics and surgeons.

BCC View uses the power of SIAscopy to present a unique, clear view of the key components of a suspected BCC. An ELM or dermoscopic view is displayed along with a blood SIAscan which shows the underlying vascularity of the lesion.

SIAscopy allows accurate visualisation of the skin up to 2mm beneath the surface. This means that visual information is presented about the structure of the lesion on-screen, allowing a more informed picture of the lesion, and enhancing the accuracy of diagnosis.

BCC View includes a new SIA scoring system - developed in conjunction with Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and Cambridge University Hospitals, Cambridge, UK. When placed side by side with existing diagnositc methods, SIA scoring provides an even higher level of detection. Initial results* show approximately 95% sensitivity and 86% specificity which compares favourably with existing methods.

BCC View includes a library of pre-scanned BCC lesions showing the common features of Basal Cell Carcinoma lesions when viewed as SIAscans. This gives the untrained user an extensive reference library, and is also a useful visual comparison for features that may not always present in a BCC.

Like other DERMETRICS applications, BCC View uses DERMETRICS Tools to make patient management easier, storing essential patient information and providing chronological tracking of lesions. Other utilities allow side by side comparison, printing and a mannequin for visual plotting of the location of the lesion.

Features

  • Displays a detailed ELM and Blood SIAscan view of each scanned lesion
  • SIA scoring system delivers substantially higher specificity than existing methods*
  • Library of SIAscans of BCC lesions gives powerful visual training aids
  • Stores SIAscans in the DERMETRICS patient database
  • Tracks progress of the lesion using DERMETRICS Compare utility
  • Integrates with other DERMETRICS skin cancer products to give a powerful suite for the management of pigmented and non-pigmented lesions

*Initial results from review of 700 lesions when compared to diagnosis from a consultant plastic surgeon.
