DERMETRICS is the software platform that enables Astron Clinica's five applications families to share a patient database and an ever growing family of skin imaging tools and utilities.

DERMETRICS applications are unique in that they all use SIAscopy, Astron Clinica's patented technology that enables visualisation up to 2mm under the skin of four of the skin's chromophores: haemoglobin, melanin, collagen and dermal melanin. All DERMETRICS applications are powered by SIAscopy, which interprets remitted light captured by both contact and non-contact SIAscopy. Through this, users of DERMETRICS applications can acquire a unique understanding of the construction of the skin, identify the presence of disease and determine the way the skin interacts with cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.

The DERMETRICS Platform

The DERMETRICS platform consists of three components:

A Patient Management system, which enables users to securely enter and manage patient data from any digital source.
An Image Management System, which enables users to capture and store a variety of images (including both contact and non-contact) SIAscans and easily import other images such as clinical photographs.

DERMETRICS 2.0 introduces support for the SIAscope V, Astron Clinica's new contact SIAscopy hand held scanner. The SIAscope V offers improved image quality, a superior dermascopic image and fast capture times. Triage and screening are made easier and quicker using the SIAscope V.

The Skin Conditions Family - Includes two new applications; Psoriasis Manager and Rash Manager. Both products feature "Treatment Manager", a tool that allows users to store favourite prescribed treatments, monitor the effect of those treatments over time and update patient data as treatment progresses. The Condition Timeline allows the user to see how a patient has progressed, and incorporates unique SIAscopy scoring tools for patient assessment. A PASI scoring tool is included for use with Psoriasis Manager.

2nd Opinion – Integrates SIAscopy with telemedicine to enable nurse-lead screening. The nurse e-mails SIAscans, clinical photographs and patient information for clinical analysis and annotation by a remote doctor, who e-mails diagnostic opinion back by return, for inclusion in patient notes.

BCC View - The latest application in the Skin Cancer family, BCC View provides a detailed view of suspected Basel Cell Carcinomas using high-resolution colour and blood SIAscans. BCC View uses a scoring system tailored specifically to identify features indicative of a Basel Cell Carcinoma within a lesion.

LAN DERMETRICS - Enables a networked skin imaging solution to be shared by multiple users that is ideally suited to hospitals, clinics and laboratories where sharing of skin images is required.

Increased Database Security - DERMETRICS 2.0 introduces the use of industry standard database Microsoft SQL server for patient data. A database conversion tool is provided to allow conversion from earlier versions of DERMETRICS to the new SQL server. The new database can also operate within a LAN environment.

Patient Manager - The DERMETRICS patient manager enables the user to search for a patient by either name or number, displaying the results in real time. Set as the default, the patient database does not select a record on opening, so that there is no risk of accidentally displaying sensitive patient information. To ease workflow, the display incorporates the clinic and patient details within the same window.
