LAN DERMETRICS enables a networked skin imaging solution to be shared by multiple users that is ideally suited to hospitals, clinics and laboratories where sharing of skin images is required.

Nurse-Led Screening
LAN DERMETRICS breaks apart the traditional connection between clinic and diagnosis, allowing effective operation of nurse-led screening programmes. This means more efficient use of clinical specialists' time, and that time spent with the patient is optimised by effectively operating a triage arrangement with suitably trained nurse specialists.

Reach
LAN DERMETRICS can go wherever the network goes. This means that a server is not required in every building - if the network goes there - so does LAN DERMETRICS. This configuration means that it's possible to serve all the users in the organisation regardless of which building they are in, providing a central repository for SIAscans in one easily manageable location.

Security
Integration with existing infrastructure and storing data on a standard network platform means that patient data is secure. There is no risk that DERMETRICS data is lost when computers crash or laptops are lost - DERMETRICS data and SIAscans are securely stored in an industry standard database (Microsoft SQL Server).

Cost Savings
By utilising existing PC hardware, LAN DERMETRICS helps reduce costs, and brings extra flexibility to a DERMETRICS solution. Most modern PC's (subject to minimum requirements) will be able to run DERMETRICS. Scanner hardware is not needed at terminals where SIAscans will not be captured, which lowers the cost of the system. Astron Clinica's flexible licensing policy means that the customer only buys as many licenses, for each user, but also that the systems can be grown over time almost infinitely.

Integration into existing infrastructure
As LAN DERMETRICS uses Microsoft SQL Servers, it integrates easily into existing networked environments. LAN DERMETRICS can be installed on existing Microsoft SQL servers. If you plan to have large numbers of people taking SIAscans, LAN DERMETRICS can be installed on its own server giving the ultimate level of flexibility security and control over DERMETRICS users.

Server Hardware
For users who plan to deploy a dedicated server for LAN DERMETRICS the system requirements exceed those of Microsoft SQL Server. SIAscan data for many patients occupies large amounts of disk storage. Realistic system requirements are Windows Server 2003, minimum 1GB RAM, minimum 160GB hard disk space for an initial installation, but these requirements will expand as use of the DERMETRICS and the number of patients and SIAscans in the database grows.
