MOLEVIEW

PDF file

MoleView is Astron Clinica's flagship product that forms the core for the clinical validation of Astron Clinica's proprietary imaging technology, SIAscopy V. Now available as a part of the DERMETRICS family, MoleView enables users to scan a lesion with Astron Clinica's hand held SIAscanner.

Contact SIAscans are images of components of the skin, viewed over an 11mm diameter circle which image up to 2mm under the surface of the skin. Together the five SIAscans provide users with a rich visualisation of:

  • An ELM or dermoscopy image providing a full magnified colour image of a lesion.
  • A Total Melanin SIAscan: where darker colours indicate areas with a higher concentration of pigment, lighter areas show lower pigment concentration.
  • A Dermal Melanin SIAscan: where white areas indicate there is no melanin in the papillary dermis. Green, blue, red and black areas have progressively increased concentrations of melanin in the papillary dermis.
  • A Blood SIAscan: where the relative concentration of haemoglobin is shown in the papillary dermis. Darker areas indicate higher concentration, lighter areas show lower concentration.
  • A Collagen SIAscan: where increased collagen in the papillary dermis is shown as lighter colours and areas of reduced collagen are darker.

When placed in a diagnostic protocol all the above images have, in published clinical work, achieved a sensitivity of 94% and a specificity of 87% in the diagnosis of malignant melanoma.

SIAscans taken using MoleView are stored in the DERMETRICS image management system together with patient information.

All DERMETRICS Utilities - Compare, Mannequin, Print and Report and Backup - can be used with MoleManager enabling efficient data management and visualisation.

Features

  • Visualisation of concentrations of haemoglobin, melanin, dermal melanin, and collagen to facilitate diagnosis of lesions resulting in increased diagnostic accuracy and also providing the capability to monitor any changes within pigmented lesions over time.
  • Adds an extra layer of certainty and provides an objective view to any diagnosis that is made.
  • Optional 3D Tools utility, which enables in-depth 3D analysis of SIAscans. Published clinical work has shown the importance of 3D analysis in identifying patterns of change in key pathology indicators used in the diagnosis of malignant melanoma.
  • Optional hardware packaging to include flight case, hospital trolley or even a backpack. This further enhances the portability of SIAscope V within a practice or hospital and is particularly important for rural clinics and practices.
  • Integrated scoring systems.
  • Optional Quick Scan to enable scans to be taken without generating patient records

Total melanin SIAscan - darker colours indicate areas with larger concentration of pigment (normally melanin); lighter areas have lower concentration

Dermal melanin SIAscan - white areas have no pigment in the papillary dermis. Green, blue, red and black areas have progressively more pigment (usually melanin) in the papillary dermis

Blood SIAscan showing relative concentration of haemoglobin in the papillary dermis. Darker areas have higher concentration, lighter areas have lower concentration

Collagen SIAscan. Increased collagen in the papillary dermis is shown as lighter colours, areas of reduced collagen in darker colours.
